Community Engagement for Military Families and Veterans Consultation

North Yorkshire Sport are collaborating with the University of the West of Scotland and Manchester Metropolitan University to undertake a piece of research, exploring what provisions, services and facilities are in place and available in North Yorkshire to support military personnel, veterans, and their families. We are now moving into the second stage of data collection which involves a series of community consultations, and we would like to give you the opportunity to attend and share your views.

The consultations will take place on the 24th and 25th February 2025, and you can book your place using the following link: https://forms.office.com/pages/responsepage.aspx?id=3ypH9ImYm0aKSmCu5yjE3pwg0R-oAm9Cqy-Hhbr6lghUNUg4WlNLRlhWMkRDMko0RDZHUU5JVlFOWS4u&route=shorturl

At each consultation refreshments will be provided, and you will also receive a voucher of up to £15 to thank you for your participation. The purpose of these consultations are to map provisions and services that provide support to military personnel, veterans, and their families in North Yorkshire. This is underpinned by a drive to strengthen the existing network, identified in the questionnaire data gathered during stage one of data collection, to understand the role of physical activity within this network, and recognise the military and veteran communities’ connection to place.

We are keen to hear from a range of organisations and individuals from across North Yorkshire who have connections to the military and civilian communities, as well as those who don’t but may wish to develop this in the future. Please feel free to share this invite across your network and to any further groups, individuals or organisations who may be interested or able to provide us with their valuable views and insights.

If you have any questions about the study, or the community consultations, please don’t hesitate to contact Dr Rebecca O’Hanlon, the lead investigator (rebecca.ohanlon@uws.ac.uk), or Laura Young, the North Yorkshire Sport lead (laura.young2@northyorks.gov.uk).
