Long Term Health Conditions and Disabilities

North Yorkshire Sport believes everybody should have the chance to participate in sport, physical activity and movement opportunities whatever their ability.

At North Yorkshire Sport we are conscious of how sport, physical activity and movement can have a positive impact on long term health conditions and disability. We are dedicated to improving access to these opportunities through supporting delivery partners with information, advice and training to enable them to cater for the whole community.

Partner Support

North Yorkshire Sport staff have delivered the Activity Alliances, Inclusive Activity Programme to local clubs and coaches and supported inclusive applications to funding we manage on behalf of Sport England.

We are a local partner of the Activity Alliance, the national charity and leading voice for disabled people in sport and activity, and advocate their national strategic aims and objects at a local level. We utilise our extensive, established local networks to take this national learning and resources to support inclusion.’

Activity Finder

The new North Yorkshire Sport Activity Finder is a new website that pulls together a huge range of local activities in one place, so that people can find ways to get active more easily.

It’s searchable by filters, meaning people can find the perfect activity to suit what matters to them.

Whilst the website is open for everyone to use, there is an additional focus on supporting people with long term health conditions and disabilities.

We Are Undefeatable

“We Are Undefeatable” is a movement supporting people with a range of long term health conditions, developed by 15 leading health and social care charities and backed by expertise, insight and significant National Lottery funding from Sport England. Their purpose is to support and encourage finding ways to be active that work for people and their health condition. We work to promote the campaigns that We Are Undefeatable share.
