Movement Activity and Sport Fund

The second round of the fund has now closed.

Assessments will take place in June/July 2026, with decisions communicated in July 2026.

Overview and Purpose of the Fund

The Movement, Activity and Sport Investment Programme is a £2.75 million programme, dedicated to reducing inequalities and improving wellbeing through increased participation in movement, activity and sport at all stages of life. The fund will tackle these challenges by aligning services, scaling up good practice, and creating a more resilient system for promoting physical activity.  The fund was launched by David Skaith, Mayor of York and North Yorkshire on Friday 10th October 2025 as a key strand of the Moving Forward campaign, and will be managed by North Yorkshire Sport on behalf of the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority.

The Movement, Activity and Sport Fund supports organisations across York and North Yorkshire to help more people become active, with a focus on those who face the greatest barriers to participation. It is open to both sports sector organisations and non-sport organisations looking to introduce or expand opportunities for movement, activity and sport within their services. The Fund promotes sustainable, community-led approaches that create long-term impact beyond the funding period. It aims to increase participation, reduce health inequalities across the region, and support projects that develop new opportunities, diversify existing offers, and engage people who are currently less active.
