Laura Tiemens

Impact & Improvement Manager

I’ve been a proud member of the North Yorkshire Sport team since 2008 and it’s been real pleasure to experience the organisation evolve and grow over this time.  NYS is a great place to work, with a fantastic team who are dedicated to making a real difference to people’s lives.
My role focuses on measuring the impact of our work, which helps us to understand and improve the ways we create meaningful change.  Much of my time is spent shaping our evaluation processes and ensuring we capture the compelling stories that bring our work to life. I’m passionate about the benefits of physical activity being accessible for everybody and take pride in showcasing our achievements through our annual Impact Report, which you can explore here
My relationship with being active has shifted over the years from simply enjoying trying different sports to seeing physical activity as an essential tool for my wellbeing. I believe nature is the ultimate antidote to a busy life, and I love spending my free time outdoors either solo (for some real headspace) or having fun with my family and friends.  Whether hiking (with plenty of bribes to get the kids up those hills!), cycling, paddleboarding or capturing the beauty of the world through photography, being in nature is where I’m happiest.
