As a neurodivergent person, the values of accessibility and equity at NYS are super important to me and is one of the main reasons I felt drawn to the role of Active Communities Manager. I have a varied background in creative community development, partnership management, grant-making, and accessible and equitable practice – all of which have given me the skills to lead on the Movement, Activity, and Sport Fund here at North Yorkshire Sport.
Most of my childhood memories involve me being either in or near water. My mum was a swimming teacher when I was growing up so I was constantly in lessons, training sessions, and galas. Thanks to her turning me into a water baby, I’m now a swimming teacher myself and love teaching people of all ages such a lifesaving skill. Outside of my work, I’m a keen runner, yoga-er and an amateur jeweller, and a (very obsessed) cat mother to my two Fluffballs, Peanut and Goij.
