Tackling racism and racial inequality: The Yorkshire and the Humber commitment

As part of Race Equality Week 2024, North Yorkshire Sport are encouraging community sports clubs and providers in York and North Yorkshire to sign up to a regional commitment to antiracism in sport.

North Yorkshire Sport are proud to be part of the Yorkshire and Humber Anti-Racism in Sport Group.

We want to stand with community sports organisations in a commitment to being anti-racist and to improve inclusion in sport.

Yorkshire and the Humber Commitment to Tackle Racism in Sport

We want to challenge the racial inequalities that prevent or discourage people from leading active lives and enjoying the benefits of sport and physical activity as participants, volunteers, coaches, working with or cheering from the touchline.

As organisations, and the individuals within them, we recognise we must do much more to address racism and racial inequalities within community sport and physical activity.

Working alongside local community clubs and providers we will:

  • Be open and responsible
  • Be strong allies
  • Create the change locally
  • Enable communities
  • Develop the workforce
  • Deliver inclusively
