North Yorkshire Sport supports Mental Health Awareness Week

We have been promoting and sharing resources and promoting Mental Health Awareness Week this week (12th-18th May).

Monday – Introduction to Mental Health Awareness Week

This #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek celebrates community, together for good mental health. We all need community – what’s yours?

Tuesday – Mind Over Mountains

Mind Over Mountains is a charity providing mental health support via walking outdoors in nature, combined with mindfulness.

Join their walks on Saturday 17th May am & pm, and Wednesday 2nd July am & pm.

Wednesday – Movement Matters

Movement matters for mental health. That’s why @MindCharity has launched guidance to help make physical activity for mental health safe and effective.

Thursday – Wear It Green

75% of mental health problems begin before the age of 24. We’re supporting #wearitgreenday by raising awareness of mental health, and sharing how physical activity and movement supports our team and trustees.

Friday – The Wave Project

This Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re shining a light on The Wave Project and their Surf Therapy programme in Scarborough. Surf Therapy is an evidence-based programme that enables children and young people to build confidence and overcome anxiety barriers through surfing.
