North Yorkshire Sport selected to participate in Cohort 2 of the Patchwork Programme.

The Patchwork Programme is a funded 9-month creative accelerator helping teams bring physical literacy to life — creating positive, meaningful movement experiences for children and young people

Supported by Sport England, the aim of the programme is to translate physical literacy philosophies into practice, create positive experiences, and help children and young people build a positive, meaningful, and lifelong relationship with movement.

The impact we’re aiming for

The 12 interdisciplinary teams selected to take part on the Patchwork Programme are collaborating on a real life project over the course of nine months. The change and impact we hope to create from these projects sits across the following thematic areas: active environments, community sport, education, workforce development, youth voice, communications, and mental health and inclusion.

To be included in Cohort 1 and 2, it was essential that applicants were focused on creating a positive, meaningful, and lifelong relationship with movement and physical activity for under-active, under-represented and/or minority groups of CYP.

Our team aspires to position schools as beacons in the local community, creating year-round active environments. Harnessing their own experiences and input, we want to create the conditions to enable ALL school stakeholders including; pupils, parents/carers, school staff, Trusts, community members/organisations and external providers to influence and shape policy, practice and community infrastructure.
