Local athletes competing for Team GB at Paris 2024 Olympics

We would like to congratulate the athletes from York and North Yorkshire who have been selected by Team GB to compete at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games beginning on the 26th July.

Take a look at the athletes who have been selected below:

Georgie Brayshaw – Harrogate/Leeds

Events: Quadruple Sculls

Georgie, who went to school in Harrogate, recently broke the world record for 5km on the RP3 rowing machine, another accolade to add to her medal collection that includes world and European gold with the women’s quadruple sculls squad.

Sam Dickinson – York

Events: Individual Triathalon

A graduate of Leeds University, Dickinson comes from a sporty family, with his father captaining the combined services water polo team and his mother a county-level gymnast.

Jacob Fincham-Dukes – Harrogate

Events: Long Jump

The Harrogate-born Fincham-Dukes attended Oklahoma State University, where he became the college’s jump indoor record holder and graduated with a Masters in business administration.

Jacob also happens to be the son of North Yorkshire Sport Trustee, Andy Dukes.

Harry Hepworth – Harrogate/Leeds

Events: Gymnastics Artistic

Born in Harrogate and raised in Leeds, Harry took up gymnastics aged 8 after being diagnosed with Legg–Calvé–Perthes disease.

Jack Laugher – Harrogate

Events: Springboard

This will be Jack’s fourth Olympics after being awarded bronze, silver and gold medals in previous games.

Scott Lincoln – Northallerton

Events: Shot Put

He traded bricklaying for an Olympic debut in Tokyo, and has enjoyed plenty of success in the three years since.

Hamish McArthur – York

Events: Boulder and Lead Sport Climbing

McArthur was crowned double world junior champion in 2021 and has worked hard to establish himself on the global circuit, securing a place at Paris 2024 through the Olympic Qualifier Series.

George Mills – Harrogate

Events: 1500m Atheletics

The 1500m runner is the eldest son of former Harrogate Town footballer Danny Mills and his younger brother Stanley is on the books at Everton.
