The Department for Education (DfE) has officially confirmed the continuation of the Primary PE and Sport Premium for the 2025-26 academic year.
This announcement follows the recent 2025 Spending Review, providing schools with much-needed clarity and continuity.
New Digital Reporting Expectations:
For the 2025/26 academic year, all primary schools are required to complete the digital expenditure reporting return. This mandatory digital form must be submitted by 5pm on Thursday, 31 July 2025. The form will capture detailed information on how schools have utilized their PE and Sport Premium funding, including:
Schools must ensure they have an active DfE Sign-in account to access and submit the form. The DfE has provided comprehensive guidance and walkthrough videos to assist schools in completing the digital reporting process.

Online reporting expectations

The PE and Sport Premium, a ring-fenced grant worth £320 million annually, aims to support the delivery of high-quality physical education and daily physical activity in primary schools. The funding will be distributed in two tranches: one in Autumn 2025 and another in Spring 2026.
