The Level 5 Certificate in Primary School Physical Education Specialism
North Yorkshire Sport are excited to once again begin offering access to this high quality professional development opportunity.
The Level 5 Certificate in Primary School Physical Education Specialism has been developed in partnership with the Association of PE (afPE) and aims to upskill primary school teachers, higher level teaching assistants and teaching assistants with extensive experience (experience across year groups and pupil groups) to improve the overall delivery of the physical education curriculum within primary schools.
Unit titles:
Unit 1 – Developing own ability as a primary school physical education specialist
Unit 2 – Understanding primary school physical education
Unit 3 – Principles of pedagogy in primary school physical education
Unit 4 – Planning for continuity and progression in primary school physical education
Unit 5 – Using assessment to impact on learning and progress in primary school physical education
Unit 6 –Teaching primary school physical education

Cost: £900
Schools can utilise the PE & Sport Premium funding to cover the cost of this nationally recognised professional develop course in line with Key Indicator 1:
‘Increasing all staff’s confidence, knowledge and skills in teaching PE and sport’
Dates:
TBC based on interest from schools
Each unit will be delivered across 6 high quality tutor lead learning days. This will be made up of 5 online sessions, culminating with a final in person practical session.
Where will the course take place?
Online with the final session in person likely to be York or Harrogate primary school
